EMist is a relatively small player in the electronic cigarette market, but has a handful of offerings that caught my eye. It was difficult to find much on the company itself, which from the get go left me wanting a little more. I have no clue where these electronic cigarettes are produced, or the research they have to back up what they are selling. Their homepage left a lot to be desired. I had read some reviews on EMist and figured I would still give it a try. Across the board they had just average products. They have the following options of kits; EMist Classic, EMist To Go, The Closer, Hollywood, and Winning!.
Their most popular product as far as I can tell is the EMist Classic Starter Kit. It is the 2 piece technology that is common to the market, with the cartridge and atomizer in one piece. They offer the colors of black, white, and silver. I had read that they had a wide flavor range, but on their website they only had tobacco and menthol as options. As far as nicotine levels go they offer a high, medium, and low, so that means there is no nicotine free option. The lack of a nicotine free option could be seen as a drawback to some, especially those looking to use e-cigs as a method of quitting smoking entirely. It has an automatic type battery that has just an average life span. The vapor output is a little weak as well, especially with the automatic battery. Only good thing is that the kit itself is a little cheaper than most starter kits. They also offer a To Go Starter Kit that is basically a smaller kit and provides a carrying case for easy on the go smoking. This is a cool option as it is compatible with multiple kits.
The next product is The Closer. The look of this product definitely sets it apart from others. It looks more like a filtered cigar (think Black & Mild) than a cigarette. It comes in a black color they call “Stylish Stainless.” They do offer an option of an automatic or manual battery which is something worth considering. The manual has a button to push that can control the strength of the vapor, which can make for a stronger vapor pull right off the first pull. It mentions V-Go on the case but never tells what it means or why its better. The Closer being larger also means a larger battery and longer lasting flavor. It also offers just the Tobacco and Menthol flavors, and the High, Medium, and Low nicotine level options. If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary then this could be the product for you. It is not compatible with the To Go case.
The Hollywood is the next kit. The website is misleading on the Hollywood as well. It looks like there are at least 9 color options in their picture, but they only have choices for Cherry Wine, Black Beauty, and Classy White. The e-cig itself looks like a writing pen, which can be a turnoff to some. Another turnoff is that this a 3-piece product so you need to have the atomizer and cartridge separate. The vapor output is just average, as is the battery life. It is also not compatible with their To Go case.
The Winning! Kit is similar in what the color options look like and what is actually offered. Black, white, and silver are the 3 options on the Emist website, with the usual high, medium, and low nicotine level options. As usual the Tobacco and Menthol flavors are the only ones available. The Winning! E-cig does have a manual battery, which as mentioned before can help add some life to the battery and create a stronger vapor pull. Like the other options, one of the selling points is the lower than normal asking price.
After having looked into and tried most of the EMist offerings its looks like they need to do more work on making their products better rather than trying to use gimmicky products to catch the buyers eye. They do offer a 30-day money back guarantee and free shipping with order over $50, but no mention of a warranty outside of the 30 day window. Personally they should work on getting a zero nicotine option and making the website both more realistic and helpful.
